Product Content

The Sentinel-2 10m HLS product will consist of surface reflectance derived from L1C products processed by ESA. All data will be reported without temporal composite, spatial sampling, nor spectral adjustment.

Values corresponds to Surface Reflectance (SR), except cirrus band (B10) and water vapor band (B09) that correspond to TOA Reflectance.

Product specification

  • Spatial: 10m, 20m, 60m (Same as Sentinel-2 L1C)(*)
  • Spectral: MSI spectral response
  • temporal: All Sentinel-2 L1C granules will be reported
  • Nadir-adjustment: No

(*) Product with L1C version earlier than v02.04 are adjusted for co-registration issue using AROP; the pixel grid reference remains identical to L1C.

Output Projection & Gridding

Product gridding is based on Sentinel-2 tile (granules) scheme defined by ESA. Product are 109.80×109.80 km2 in UTM/WGS84 projection. Tiles are aligned to the UTM zone limits. They are identified by a Tile ID that start with the UTM zone (e.g. Tile 18SUJ is located in UTM zone 18S). Each UTM zone is split into Tiles that overlap in x and y axis of 9780 m (ie, 978 pixels). A table with each Tiles ID with coordinate of the upper-left pixel, tile size and UTM zone can be downloaded here.

File Naming

Each tile is stored in a single HDF file. File naming convention follows:

HLS.S10.<Tile_ID>.<year>.<doy>.v<version number>.hdf
